A Dedication depicts place through photographs, artifacts, and collective family memory. Place is understood not just through the physical landscape, but through the cultural experiences distilled from the landscape. Found photographs and objects from Westminster, South Carolina are in conversation with images taken of the location itself. Circular forms are found among the images and objects, representing the continual presence of place. The sound of Johnny Cash singing, “Will the Circle be Unbroken?” carried throughout the installation.
